Those Indians who have lived abroad for many years know what a luxurious life it is over there in any of the developed nations across the globe. Life is smooth and hassle free with everyone minding his or her own work, salaries that most cannot dream of earning back in India, comforts in life and excellent school and college education for the kids.
Many Indians in USA are contemplating returning to India because even with all the material comforts and financial security that USA has to offer them, many would like to be with their aged parents and feel that bringing up their young ones imbibing the Indian culture would be better. Indians planning to return home should consider the challenges that present themselves when they do make the decision of returning. How do they overcome the many challenges that they have to face in India after having lived abroad for so many years?
The important challenge is the workplace environment, which many people find difficult to adjust with initially. These people are used to the American style of working where everything is transparent, but here in the Indian work environment things are difficult. The other challenge is the culture. The American culture to which most Indians residing in the USA are accustomed to especially the younger generation will find it difficult to digest when they are confronted with the Indian culture. Here in India, elders in the family like grandparents, uncles and aunts expect the younger generation to accord them the respect they deserve.
Many have to learn to deal with this culture. Of course, the Indian culture is something that deserves recognition, as being best and you need to learn to appreciate the age-old traditions and customs and this is a challenge to many who are from abroad. The only way to over come both these challenges is to learn to accept them as they are and then learn the nuances of how best to tackle those like other Indians do. Parents can teach their children how to pay respect to their elders and about the Indian culture by taking them to temples, enrolling them in religious classes, activities etc.
Indians working in Indian companies in US and Indians in USA consider themselves belonging more to their country of residence than their hometown. This is a challenge they need to address when they return to India. They have to identify themselves as Indians and not Americans and learn to live as other normal Indians in this country are doing. This is a challenge that needs to be overcome and each one has to develop their own course of action to overcome this problem.
The climate in most parts of the country can be challenging as India can be termed as a hot sunny country. This is a problem that many Indians from abroad find difficult to adjust. They are not used to the harsh sun during summers and to overcome this challenge they need to equip their homes and themselves well. Challenges present themselves in many forms, it is up to each individual to plan a strategy to over come it.
