The city of Gwalior is located in Madhya Pradesh. The city with its rich historical background attracts visitors across the world. The city is just 76 kms away from the Taj city of Agra. Gwalior Fort - This fort dominates the skyline of the city. In fact, the majestic beauty of the fort actually makes it one of the magnificent architectural structures in the world. The fort is located about 100 meters above the city. Built under the order of Raja Man Singh Tomar in the 15 th century, the grand fort has earned the name 'the pearl among fortresses of India' from the Mughal emperor Babur. The fort stretches for almost 3 sq kms and is surrounded by the walls of sand stone. Inside the fort there are three temples, 6 palaces and several water tanks.


Man Mandir - Built during the time of Raja Man Singh Tomar in between the years of 1486 and 1517, the giant structure bears exquisite architectural colored patterns that remind us of India's glorious past. The historic Suraj Kund pond is located here. Legend says that it was the water of this pond that cured King Suraj Sen as adviced by the sage Gwalipa.


Teli-ka-Mandir - This temple is dedicated to lord Vishnu and it stands tall of about 100 ft. The construction of the temple dates back to the 9 th century AD and the architectural form belongs to the Telangana style. The structure is built with a blend of both the Dravidian and the indo Aryan style. The top of the temple is of Dravidian style while the ornamentation of the building is of Aryan style. The temple is named after the oil merchants who have funded the construction of the temple.


Tomb of Mohammad Ghaus - The tomb was built in the honor of the Mohammad Ghaus, 16th century saint. The tomb exudes beautiful architectural carvings and lattice work. The structure is square in shape with hexagonal shaped towers standing at its corners.


There are several other places to see in Gwalior like the Saas-bahu temple, Jai Vilas palace, tomb of Tansen and such. There are several other art galleries and museum as well like the Gujari Mahal Archaeological Museum and The Municipal Corporation Museum.
