A school that decided to source in-house office supplies in the form of printing devices manufactured by OKI has reported positive results.
According to senior IT manager Adam Urch, having such items in addition to its normal office stationery has made the organisation more adaptable, Officesuppliesnews.co.uk reports.
He said: "We have really appreciated the flexibility of the OKI solutions and in particular their ability to handle a broad range of different printing jobs from basic drafts right through to digital photography with complex layers and colour mixes."
The expert went on to note that, over time, the school has built a strong level of trust in OKI and the solutions it offers.
He added: "We now operate a rolling programme where budget is assigned for new printers to replace aging devices or to furnish a new classroom as and when required."
One of the things the school was seeking was speed in terms of how quickly documents can be produced.
On this particular feature, Mr Urch remarked: "This is a major benefit in a classroom environment, helping teachers to overcome the end-of-class printing rush and ensure that pupils no longer need to delay the start of the next lesson, waiting for work to appear."
Heathland School initially made a bulk purchase of the printers as part of its expenditure on office stationery and other necessary items. It now has enough of the devices to support lessons in most of its subjects.
For example, in history, special event-based newsletters are being printed and pupils in geography classes use the machines when running off maps and graphs.
Another quality the organisation was seeking its office supplies was value for money.
This is likely to be a major concern for many organisations at present, particularly those in the public sector.
The coalition government is set to implement severe spending cuts over coming months and budgets for such goods will therefore be tight.
