The modern but stressful life leads you to anxiety and panic. You feel out of control and overwhelmed by these feelings. If you are in this situation, the article will be the thing you are looking for.
Anxiety is our body's way of telling us that action needs to be taken because of a perceived threat or danger confronting us. It is not our enemy but a useful survival mechanism that needs to be listened to. The more we try to push it away the more intense it will become demanding us to acknowledge it. It is important to recognise the anxious feelings we experience as they arise because once they have been owned they will be able to pass knowing that you have paid heed to their existence and will take the necessary action they urge. Often we turn away from feelings we label 'unpleasant' and they then become a problem. We need to give 'unpleasant' feelings respect and make them our friends rather than our enemies. We need to be willing to experience all feelings that we have, be they good or 'bad'. We are human beings and we need to embrace our humanity, that means being willing to accept the wide range of emotions that come with the package.
They key to overcoming panic attacks and anxiety is to become aware of our resistance to them and the thoughts we have that trigger them. When you feel a panic coming on try to welcome it rather than push it away. This will be hard at first as the natural reaction will be to flee but overtime you will be able to. Start with the small feelings, they will grow in intensity as you embrace them and then pass. It is their nature to be impermanent and flow.
Make a note of the thoughts you have that trigger the panic or anxiety and question their truth. You will find that they do not hold much truth and the more you realise this, the less power they will have over you and you will be able to deal much better with any panic or anxiety that arises.
