Teeth straightening treatments are suitable for people from adolescents to adults. Many people try to hide their teeth because they feel embarrassed about their smile. Many of these people have uneven or overcrowded teeth, which can easily be fixed with professional dental treatment. Other people suffer from biting their mouth constantly from wrongly shaped jaws or misaligned teeth. Some people are put off from the treatment because they don't want to wear braces that are clearly visible, and feel embarrassed. There are however. more subtle or even invisible solutions.

Causes

There are many reasons for crooked or uneven teeth. Some of these start from childhood from thumb sucking or dummies, pushing them out of alignment, or even misshape the jaw. The adult teeth very often follow the alignment of the first set. Some children have problems with a new tooth unearthing before the baby tooth has fallen out. This causes them to grow in front or behind the remaining so they are a lot higher in the gum, trying to push the baby teeth out. Some people just have too many teeth in their mouth (overcrowding) so they have to overlap to fit. Other causes include accidents where the jaw has been knocked, or the teeth or just genetically uneven. Some of these can even cause deformity in the face.

Solutions

The most popular solution to straightening teeth are braces. There are many types of brace however, not just the standard wire and brackets with elastics. There are also aligners for those who do not like braces.

Cosmetic fixed braces are clear brackets with white wires used by many celebrities. SmartClip™ Self-Ligating Brackets are one of the most popular choice by orthodontics. They use a special nickel-titanium metal alloy making the treatment more comfortable.

For those who want to go one step further, but do not want aligners the Incognito braces are completely invisible. Instead of being placed on the front of the teeth they are placed on the back. They are designed specifically for your teeth, so they are comfortable and fit your mouth perfectly.

ClarityTM SL Self-Ligating Braces & Damon Braces System are another choice, which do not use the elastic bands used by many standard braces. A slide mechanism is used to move the teeth which is far more comfortable. They move the teeth faster and the braces are easier to clean. The brackets are metal though and more visible.

There are invisible aligners for those who want to be as discreet as possible without the hassle of braces. Invisalign braces are a series of nearly undetectable aligners instead of wires and brackets. The clear aligners move your teeth, week by week, bit by bit into the desired position. They can be removed when eating and brushing so they are convenient.

The best advice I can give is to visit your dentist or orthodontist, to find out your best options. People such as Midland Orthodontics specialize in these areas for teeth straightening.
